As the founder of Ruggerio Willson Watson, Rhett began his political career in Wilmington, Delaware where he ran a successful campaign for James M. Baker in 2000. Rhett spent the next 5 years as one of the top advisors to the Mayor and helped secure 2 more full terms for Baker, while chairing his Re-Election Campaigns. Rhett also chaired the Delaware Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign, which included the late Beau Biden’s Attorney General win, and he represented Delaware as National Committeeman and a super delegate to the DNC convention.
Rhett started Ruggerio Willson & Associates in 2005. RWW is consistently ranked as one of the top firms in the state of Delaware. And most recently, Rhett was recognized as one of Delaware’s “Top 20 Most Influential in Politics and Business” for 2021/2022/2023 by the Wilmington News Journal and Delawareonline.com
Rhett is currently leading the University of Delaware’s Government Relations Department as an interim head of the department. He serves as a board member to the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and the University of Delaware Department of Political Science and International Relations. Rhett also teaches a Lobbying and Influence course at the University of Delaware’s Joseph R. Biden School of Public Policy.
When not in Dover, Rhett can be found at the Indian River Inlet trying to shred waves or hanging with his wife and two daughters at a local soccer or lacrosse field.
